ロックダウンシステム
TransliterationNot yet documented
The Lockdown System is a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu half guard control method where the bottom player crosses their feet in a figure-four lock over the opponent's trapped leg, creating an extremely powerful leg control that prevents the top player from freeing the leg or advancing the pass. [1] The Lockdown provides the control foundation for the Electric Chair sweep, the Old School sweep from Lockdown, and the Whip sweep, making it one of the most complete half guard systems in no-gi grappling. [1],[2]
Developed within the modern BJJ competition framework. [1]
Used in IBJJF, ADCC, and/or EBI competition. [1]

The Jaws of Life is a critical transitional position from the lockdown half guard where the guard player establishes double underhooks on the opponent while maintaining the lockdown leg configuration. [1] This is the essential intermediate step between the lockdown and the Electric Chair sweep/submission. The double underhooks create the leverage needed to execute the whip-up and transition to attacks. [2]
Stoner control is a half-guard control position from the 10th Planet lockdown system where the guard player triangles their legs around the opponent's trapped leg and swims an arm underneath the opponent's free leg, establishing upper body control. [1] From this position, the attacker can transition to calf crank, arm triangle, vaporizer, or pass to side control. Eddie Bravo warns that the kimura is a risk from this position if control is not maintained. [2]
The lockdown is Eddie Bravo's signature half guard control — both legs triangle around the opponent's trapped leg, stretching it to prevent passing. The system chains into the Electric Chair sweep and Vaporizer submission. (Bravo, Mastering the Rubber Guard, 2006)
Position your half guard so the opponent's knee is trapped within it, then use your free foot to find their heel and kick it back slightly to create space and maintain control.
You can over-hook their arm so when they push the knee off, they become trapped in the position until they get frustrated and reach farther, giving you opportunities to advance.
Grab around the inside of their elbow or bicep rather than the wrist—if you grab the wrist, they can extend their arm and escape, but controlling the elbow keeps them stuck in place.
Keep control of the opponent's wrist so if they try to pull out, it's completely stuck; as soon as they lean away to free that arm, you can transition to a top position.
