Перевод: Shoulder Hold / Head-and-Arm Choke — From Knee-on-Belly
A head-and-arm choke (kata gatame) applied from knee-on-belly. The attacker pins the opponent with the knee ride, isolates the near arm across the opponent’s neck, and drives the shoulder and chest into the carotid while locking a head-and-arm clamp. Finish is created by shoulder adduction, chest pressure, and angle change—not by leg triangling.
Modern BJJ adaptation of kata gatame that emphasizes using the mobile knee-on-belly pin to create the arm-across feed and immediate finishing pressure.
Effective as both a submission and a positional control threat; the knee-on-belly base limits the opponent's mobility while the arm isolation creates a direct path to the choke. [1]
The arm triangle from knee-on-belly was developed in BJJ as an advanced positional submission, combining pressure with strangulation. [1]
Arm triangles from knee-on-belly are used in advanced BJJ competition, particularly at black belt level. [1]

Functions as both a submission and control position—if choke fails, attacker can transition smoothly into mount, armbar, or back take.
Let them push your knee off and turn into you—this is actually what you want. According to ROYDEAN, when they turn into you, you can grab the collar ridge, circle your forearm around to create a wall, and finish the choke by rolling your bottom wrist up into the neck.
ROYDEAN recommends opening the collar, grabbing the ridged material, and starting your forearm at about the middle of the opponent's head. Then circle your forearm around tightly so the top arm becomes a wall, with your bottom wrist ready to roll up into the neck.
ROYDEAN suggests modifying the grip for bigger opponents or if you're shorter: instead of pinky-to-elbow, simply place your hand flat on your forearm and roll it up the same way as you compress.
ROYDEAN recommends threatening an armlock by straightening your arm on the ground to push against their elbow, forcing them to turn. Once they turn in, dive your shoulder below their lat to enter the triangle position and finish the choke.

Danger: 9/10 | Direct vascular choke from dominant top control; loss of consciousness can be fast once sealed.
Стандартная цепочка подготовки: Achieve Controlling Position → Isolate the Neck → Set the Grip → Apply Pressure.
Стандартные контрприёмы: Tuck Chin — protect the neck by lowering the chin to prevent the choke from sinking / Two-on-One Grip Fight — use both hands to strip the choking grip before it locks / Turn Into — rotate toward the choking arm to relieve carotid pressure / Posture Up — straighten the spine and create distance to break the choking angle.
Распространённые варианты: High-knee pin to kata gatame; Knee-on-belly to mounted kata gatame finish; Wrist-control (C-grip) feed across; Underhook drag feed across.
Arm triangles from knee-on-belly are used in advanced BJJ competition, particularly at black belt level.
Основные ошибки, на которые стоит обратить внимание: Trying to finish without the arm truly across the neck / Leaning too far forward and getting rolled / Keeping head too high (leaves space) / Squeezing without walking angle/shoulder drop (becomes neck crank instead of choke)..
