Introduction and Setup
Eli demonstrates a comprehensive headlock submission series from a front headlock position where the opponent is turtled and the instructor is in a sprawled-out top position. The instructor establishes that hand placement and grip configuration will determine which submission options are available from this dominant position.
Dave Schultz Headlock to Anaconda Choke
From a position with one hand blocking the neck and the other controlling the tricep/bicep area, the instructor connects both hands palm-to-palm and scrapes the opponent's arm upward. This creates space to thread the head under the armpit, setting up an anaconda choke that can be finished immediately or transitioned via a gator roll.
Anaconda Choke Finish with Hip Control
After the gator roll, the instructor maintains the opponent's arm separation while walking the hips inward and driving a curved knee into the opponent's arm. The free hand slides through to achieve a rear naked choke configuration, which is then squeezed to complete the anaconda choke submission.
Guillotine Choke with Foot Trap Flipover
When the opponent's head is positioned on the outside, the instructor establishes a guillotine-style wristwatch grip on the neck while double-blocking the tricep. By stepping the foot on the opponent's quad and rolling to a neon belly position, the instructor can execute the guillotine choke from a dominant top control position.
Transition to Reverse Triangle via Hand Fight
If the opponent defends the guillotine by hand-fighting and pulling the choking hand away, the instructor immediately scoops an underhook on the arm and drives a knee into the space created. The opposite leg sweeps across the body to lock in a reverse triangle choke as the opponent is pulled into this pocket.
Reverse Triangle with Hand-Fight Defense
From the same guillotine setup, if the opponent aggressively hand-fights, the instructor creates space underneath the opponent's back by sliding the knee upward. The opposite leg is lifted and locked behind the opponent's back, allowing for either a straight armbar or reverse triangle choke depending on positioning and opponent movement.
Inside Head Position with Wizard Hook Control
When the opponent's head is positioned on the inside and they maintain a strong grip, the instructor applies a wizard hook overhead to prevent the opponent from funneling upward. By posting and back-stepping across the opponent's body while controlling the ankle, the instructor creates time and space to establish dominant back control positioning.
