Scissor Sweep Mechanics
The scissor sweep works by loading the opponent's weight onto the top leg while keeping the bottom leg light. The left hand and left foot (hooked on the hip bone) work together to pull the opponent toward the defender. For heavier opponents, sit up and use full body weight; for similar-weight partners, leg and arm strength suffice.
Completing the Scissor Sweep
Once weight is loaded on the top leg, cup the opponent's knee and execute the sweep by kicking the left leg across. Climb up the opponent's body while maintaining the collar grip to transition into a choke position. This completes the first variation in the three-sweep chain.
Push Sweep for Shorter Range
